OOCL is adding vessels to its two weekly services on its SBX network among Baltic ports this month.
The company is hoping to expand the capacity of each of the weekly services with the additional ships.
The Hong Kong-based carrier said it will add a sixth vessel with a nominal capacity of 1,000 twenty-foot equivalent units to its SBX1 service, which will increase the service’s capacity by 5 percent.
OOCL also plans to upgrade its SBX2 service from two vessels to three vessels with the phasing in of the OOCL Nevskiy from the SBX1, which will boost weekly capacity by 45 percent.
The overall capacity increase across its entire SBX network will be 20 percent.
OOCL will add a call at Kotka to the SBX2 rotation, which will also make a second call at St. Petersburg, at Petrolesport (PLP). The rotation will continue to make three weekly calls at the St. Petersburg First Container Terminal.
The port rotation of the SBX1 service is: Rotterdam, Antwerp, St. Petersburg, Gdynia, Gothenburg, Hamburg, Gdynia, St. Petersburg and back to Rotterdam.
The port rotation of the enhanced SBX2 service will be: Hamburg, St. Petersburg, Kotka, Rauma, Gavle, Bremerhaven, Hamburg, Klaipeda, St. Petersburg and back to Hamburg.
The first sailing of the enhanced SBX2 service is scheduled to start from Hamburg on May 15.
